My name is Keith James. I’m a thirty-something geek residing in Saint Paul, MN. Yes, I said geek, I've embraced who I am and proud of it! I am also an illustrator and this is my website. It’s mostly an online portfolio of my artwork and anyone is welcome to take a look through it.

I’ve been involved with art as long as I can remember and knew I’d be working in it since I was in kindergarten. I attended The Columbus College of Art and Design where I graduated with a BFA majoring in Illustration. I have a love for superhero comic books, children’s books, science fiction/fantasy, animation, and the theatrical arts. So take a look through the galleries, I hope you like what you see!

As I said, this website is about my professional life but I attached a hidden page with a little bit more about me and my personal life for those who are interested. Just email me and I'll sendl you a link to the page.
Greetings!
WHAT'S NEW
NEW ART: There's alot of new stuff to see. Due to timeline issues, I was forced to stop one project half way though it in favor of another project. I've since finished both projects and only now am finally able to get them posted.

The first is is the next in the series of Potter-Paintings. Still plugging away at
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, here is Chapter four, At Flourish & Blotts. There's alot going on in this scene, which I both like and dislike about it; lots of great details and whatnot, but unless you're looking at it up-close, things get muddled together and lost. When I first started it, I wasn't sure I'd get everyone in the scene that I wanted. Luckiliy I only had to cut one person from the original plans, the annoyed looking shop keeper of Florish & Blotts. But it was an easy sacrifice to make considering everyone else mentioned made it in!

The second is a bit more elaborate in some ways. It's actualy 5 illustrations! While slightly simpler in design, they were a fun challenge to paint. These illustrations come together to be a small book I made for my Goddaughter Lilly who just tunred 3 years old. Her parents wrote the story and I iluustrated it, it's called
The Adventures of Princess Lillian and Her Fluffy Cat Choppers. Getting the paintings done in time for her party was why the Potter-Painting needed to be put on hold. I did JUST finish them in time and I think Lilly really liked it. It was really fun seeing the look on her face when she first realized it was HER in the story. My only real disapointments in the project are I wish I had had a little more time to do a better job (not that I think what I did was bad, it just could have been better) and in particual I was not happy with the cover for the book. The important paintings to be finished were the inside paintings, and when they were done there wasn't enough time to do a proper cover, so I just threw together something on the 'puter in Photoshop. So try not to judge the cover too harshly, just skip it and get to the stuff inside!
