My name is Keith James. I’m a thirty-something geek residing in Saint Paul, MN. Yes, I said geek, I've embraced who I am and proud of it! I am also an illustrator and this is my website. It’s mostly an online portfolio of my artwork and anyone is welcome to take a look through it.

I’ve been involved with art as long as I can remember and knew I’d be working in it since I was in kindergarten. I attended The Columbus College of Art and Design where I graduated with a BFA majoring in Illustration. I have a love for superhero comic books, children’s books, science fiction/fantasy, animation, and the theatrical arts. So take a look through the galleries, I hope you like what you see!

As I said, this website is about my professional life but I attached a hidden page with a little bit more about me and my personal life for those who are interested. Just email me and I'll sendl you a link to the page.
Greetings!
WHAT'S NEW
NEW ART: It's the first chapter for the "new" series of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz illustrations I'll be doing. I say "new" because I'd already done one illustration from this book before, Chapter Six:The Cowardly Lion, but at that time that was all I was planning on doing. But as times gone by and due to other influences, I've been convinced to do the entire book. The neat thing about that is, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is a book in public domain. So once I've finished the series, I can bind it together like I do with the Potter books, but unlike the Potter books, I can sell it!

Anyway, there's a ways to go before I can do all that, for now I present to you the first illustration from
The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Chapter One: The Cyclone. When you go to the page to look at it, note, (again like the Potter-Paintings) there are a couple vignette drawings that accompany the illustration. The first of the two vignettes was the orginial drawing for the actual painted illustration. I got as far as having it on the board and even a good number of hours of painting put into it, but it just wasn't working for me. I still liked it, which is why I kept it as a vignette. But it just wasn't quite good enough to be the primary illustration for the chapter. I am much happier with the new scene. SO happy I changed my mind!
