Gouache paints with coloured pencil on watercolour paper - minor PhotoShopping was done to the black boarder and the red shape to make web/print ready because the scanner picked up too much of the brush strokes.
Last year marked the 20th anniversary of the second season of the television series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” - a show I still consider my favorite of all time. I did a painting to celebrate the first anniversary - completing it JUST a week before the end of that year. Unfortunately I feel really far behind last year. Working on my book took precedence over this (or any other) painting. So I didn't get it done in time for the actual anniversary year. BUT, I plan to jump right into Season 3 now, so I don't encounter the same problems with that one. And hopefully get on a better track for creating art a bit more regularly now.
Totally honest planet: I liked how the 1st season painting turned out better than this one. But that was a result of the design/layout more than execution. I'm just as happy with how everyone looks - I feel the likenesses are solid, (though the smaller the character the more difficult it was to achieve and maybe it shows) and the mood is consistent with the previous painting. But I still really like the painting otherwise and I hope to take the elements I don't like about this piece, learn from them, and make the next all the better.
