18 x 24 - Gouache paints with coloured pencil on watercolour paper - minor PhotoShopping was done to the black boarder and the red shape to make web/print ready because the scanner picked up too much of the brush strokes.
This year marked the 20th anniversary of the television series “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” - a show I still consider my favorite of all time. So I did this painting to celebrate the said anniversary. I had every intention of doing it much earlier in the year - but life got in the way and pushed it off for sometime. So while I dealt with not having it finished on the original airdate of the first episode, I really wanted to get it done before the end of 2017. Well I did it… just barely, there’s just over a week left in the year… but I did it!
I will say this - If it meant acheiving the quality I managed, I think the wait was worth it. I am very happy with the way it turned out. I’m extremely proud of the layout I think the liknesess of all the characters are accurate and the piece just really came together better than I’d hoped when I started it. I feel like I could gush more like a proud parent, but that’s all I can really say about it.
I can say this though ~ my fellow hardcore fans of the show will recognize all the characters are their encarnations from the first season of the show and the only villains are from the same season. Yes, there will be other paintings for the other seasons. And yes, Angel too.
